Hard work pays off

Words can't even describe how excited I am to share this with you. It's the coolest feeling when you go to school to get a degree in photography and actually get to use it and put everything you learned to work.

Now, I never thought I would be working with a hospital marketing department as a medical photographer, but I here I am in Lubbock, Texas doing that with University Medical Center, and I absolutely love it!

One of my first big projects was to replace all the old landscape photos on the first floor of the hospital with images that capture the UMC culture.

After several months of hard work the photos have finally reached the last few steps before they go up in the lobby.

I can't even begin to thank Susie enough, for all her help with this project. None of this would have been done if it wasn't for her. THANKS SO MUCH SUSIE!

These images were taken up at the frame shop yesterday...I almost started crying when I saw the prints. I'm a firm believer in the saying, "Hard work pays off".

I have to brag

This goes along with the Skim Jam Post. Not only did I get the chance to go home two weeks ago, but I also brought my boyfriend Grant.

This was his first time to see where I grew up and what all I was up to while growing up in Cypress. I do have to tell you guys I grew up in the best neighborhood...but that's a different post.

I told Grant about the Skim Jam and he was totally up to see what that was all about. He asked if he could use another one of my cameras to take pictures and I just smiled SO big and told him, "Heck ya!".

SIDE NOTE: We have been meaning to go out and just do some trouble shooting but just never have got around to it till the Skim Jam.

I kid you not, I gave Grant a quick tutorial on focusing and metering/exposure and told him about some important buttons on the camera and that was that. I'm talking like a 2 minute talk. He was so anxious to start shooting.

It was such a blast being out at the Beoch (that's the name we gave the creek because it looked like the beach) with Grant and watching him shoot. It also was very refreshing/encouraging to see someone just go after they wanted.

I'm so excited/honored to be blogging Grant's images!

But wait! It gets better! We got back to my place and started the long process of uploading over 1,000 RAW images. Grant got the brilliant/fun idea to make a logo. I wish I would have saved his drawings. His ideas were great! Once he got what he wanted we splashed it on each image.

So, here are not only his wonderful, full manual shot images...but his wonderful logo/watermark.

I'm so proud and excited for him!

Oh and P.S.- I really want to win this contest!I want to win the Get It Together Kit & a seat to Love Affair Workshop. GO read the details and register! http://www.loveaffairworkshop.com

Skim Jam Cubed 2010 ::Skim 2 Live:: Houston, Texas

I went home to Houston last week for one more "who-ra" before my parents move to Oklahoma... I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had.
Here are some photos I took back in Cypress Creek where I used to go Skim boarding with a group I had back in High school. We called it, Skim 2 Live.

Since my generation has left the guys that brought Skim 2 Live to what it is today hosted their 3rd Skim Jam to raise money for the Rose Foundation to help fight Breast Cancer. Talk about an amazing idea!

I'm so proud to know these guys/girls and what they did this past weekend. If you would like to read more about the Skim 2 Live Cubed 2010 event click here.

Natalie Ann | Lubbock, Texas Senior Photographer

I couldn't wait to blog this photo. I swear it's hit or miss when it comes to Lubbock weather around this time of year and man did we hit this senior session on a perfect day. I'm talking NO WIND! NO RAIN! and yes I'm going to say this...NO SNOW (because it could happen here in Lubbock).

Natalie was given a Senior Session as a graduation gift. So Natalie, Natalie's boyfriend and her mom made the drive from Lamesa for the photo session today.

I had a wonderful time with this group, I'm talking straight up awesome personalities.

P.S.- Natalie or Natti bear (as your mom would call you) You are absolutely beautiful! Congrats on graduating!
